Lynn "Monty" Montgomery

March 12, 1937 – March 8, 2011
Lynn Montgomery had a long and successful career as an educator in the San Juan Unified School District. After attending Sacramento State University and earning a masters degree in education administration, he began his teaching career with SJUSD in 1959 as a teacher for the Wada Way School in Carmichael.

He taught at Deterding and Howe Avenue schools, and in 1966 became vice principal of Starr King school. He then became principal at Oakview Community school, and after five years moved to Cameron Ranch and then Woodside schools. In 1986, while principal for LeGette, he was honored by being named Principal of the Year by San Juan Unified School District’s Administrator’s Association.

He continued to be active in education by mentoring student teachers through Sacramento State University and working for the National Education Service.
