Ambassador Tracey Jacobson (Thomas)

Tracey Jacobson, a career Senior Foreign Service Officer with the rank of Career Minister, currently serves as Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  She has previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and Kosovo.  Senior assignments in Washington include Acting Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations, Deputy Executive Secretary and Senior Director for Administration at the National Security Council/White House, and Dean and Deputy Director of the Foreign Service Institute.  Her earlier overseas assignments included Seoul, Korea; Moscow, Russia; Nassau, Bahamas, and Riga, Latvia.  Domestically she has worked in the Bureaus of Intelligence and Research, Western Hemisphere Affairs, and South and Central Asian Affairs.  

Ambassador Jacobson has received two Presidential Meritorious Service Awards as well as numerous State Department Superior Honor Awards.  She received her MA from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Washington DC and her BA from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.  

Ambassador Jacobson is married to David Baugh, a former member of the British Foreign Service.
