Meet our Guiding Stars: educators whose ideas have transformed classrooms and inspired students
“A pair of green headphones and a $1,500 grant changed everything.
Thanks to a grant from the San Juan Education Foundation, I was able to buy books and headphones for my classroom. One student, who is hard of hearing, began using the headphones daily — and something beautiful happened. She started participating more, connecting with peers, and laughing out loud. It transformed her experience and inspired a new path for me as well. That single grant sparked deeper learning, advocacy, and a renewed commitment to inclusive education — even after 30 years of teaching. All of this was possible because of the San Juan Education Foundation’s belief in educators and their willingness to fund what matters.”
