Mark came to Sacramento with his mom and infant sister by train in 1959, at the age of four. Mark speaks fondly of his youth and has stories of the many remarkable teachers who helped him on the road to success. He is currently a board member for MLAF (Mira Loma Alumni and Friends). He is the owner of Sports Leisure Vacations.
In 1979, while working for the Mission Oaks Park & Recreation District, Mark Hoffmann founded his company (now in its 48th year) by taking fans to Bay Area baseball games. Since then, Sports Leisure has grown from his apartment living room into a nationally known and respected company, offering tours all over the planet. Although he modestly admits, “Really, our travelers drive the company by telling us where they want to go. I literally have the best job in the world, taking people places they’ve always dreamed of going, and helping make their dreams come true.”
Sports Leisure supports a long list of community-based organizations, including Public Broadcasting Station KVIE, Broadway Sacramento/The Music Circus, The Mustard Seed School and numerous other local non-profits.
Mark is the only two-time past president/chairman of the National Tour Association. He received NTA’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. Mark has hosted The Travel Guys Radio Show at 11am Saturday mornings on 1140AM, along with Tom Romano, for the last 20 years.
