Dr. MICHAEL McKIBBIN

Dr. Mike McKibbin was a teacher and administrator for nearly 5 decades, working in the field of education. He volunteered in his son’s Orangevale public school classroom for 11 years donating more than 1,000 hours. That commitment led him to provide 8 years of service to San Juan Unified’s Curriculum and Instruction Committee and then finally to joining the San Juan Unified School District School Board in 2014 (retired 2023).

 Before that, he was an administrator at the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing penning laws and policies that helped place over 60,000 new teachers into California schools to address the teacher shortage created by class size reduction. I

With two Master’s degrees and a doctorate in education from Columbia University and a BA from Purdue University, he has always believed in service As a Peace Corps in India for two years he taught villagers how to raise chickens as a small business, started a marketing cooperative and built a feed mill.

Mike’s commitment to education, student achievement and especially to San Juan Unified make him a true shining star. Thank you Mike!
