Dr. Robert O’Brien

Robert O’Brien, PhD, was President of Med Ec., a national health care economics consulting firm. He was responsible for providing financial, operations, and contract advisory services to hospitals and medical groups. Bob served on various corporate boards, and was a member of several national medical group associations. Bob grew up in San Juan Unified graduating from Citrus Heights Elementary, Sylvan Middle, and San Juan High Schools. He also achieved his AA at American River College and his BA and MAs in Economics at CSU Sacramento. In addition to his professional duties, he coached middle school sports (boys and girls basketball and girls volleyball) at Sylvan Middle School.

Bob’s great love passion for extracurricular activities for students and support of San Juan Unified made him an obvious candidate for the San Juan Education Foundation Board when it was reformed in 2005. From 2005 through 2022, Bob was the Foundation Board Treasurer contributing many hours of professional expertise. The San Juan Education Foundation would not be in the position it is today without Bob’s efforts. We appreciate his commitment to our mission to support and advance excellent education for all San Juan Unified students and miss him very much.
